Most Families Leave $1,500+ On The Table
See exactly how much pretax childcare money you can claim — and how to stack it with the Child Tax Credit.
A quick history lesson: The DCFSA limit hasn't changed since 1986 — still $5,000 for MFJ. Inflation-adjusted, that's worth roughly $1,500 in 2026 dollars. You can use the DCFSA and the Child Tax Credit together — but the IRS doesn't let you double-dip: every dollar you run through the DCFSA reduces the care expenses eligible for the separate Dependent Care Credit dollar-for-dollar. The CTC itself (the per-child credit) is unaffected.
